Bubble run boosts primary school playground fundraiser

Published: 20 July, 2026

Super soakers and bubble machines were the order of the day to support a fundraising appeal at a Bury St Edmunds primary school.

Pupils at Tollgate Primary School took part in a fun bubble run to raise a fantastic £2,935 to improve school’s playground and outdoors spaces.

Cheered on by parents and family members while getting soaked by staff members, pupils were sponsored to run and walk around the 750-metre course as many times as possible.

Headteacher Hannah Brookman said: “We would like to thank everyone who supported our bubble run and helped raise such a fantastic sum of money.

“The pupils had lots of fun and it was great to see our school community come out and cheer them on.”

The event was organised by the Friends of Tollgate School to support the ‘Project Playground’ appeal.

The project will see areas created around the school field to allow pupils to be creative, collaborative and active through a range of play opportunities – including the ‘Tollgate beach’.
